The main grinding materials are listed as follows: pure alumina named corundum,Cr2O3,BC and pure green sic. The grain sizes are classified: W14-W40 for initiating grinding and W14-W7 for self-precision and W5-W1 for the precision and it is very important to utilize the grinding materials and the proper selection of the grinding materials depends on the hardness of mechanical seal faces/rings for grinding materials are decisive factors of mechanical seal face/ring process speed and their roughness. Grinding materials need grinding liquids as carriers to suspend in the liquids and the liquids should be compounded according to a certain proportion, which are called grinding abrasers or polishing compounds with a certain self-lubrication, friction decreasing ,washing and heat decreasing. Generally pure water,light kerosene,canola oil and alcohol are mixed with some additives to prevent the mechanical seal faces/rings from scratching on the surfaces. The grinding liquids are used to improve the self-lubrication to avoid scratches on the surfaces and cool the mechanical seal faces/rings to prevent deformation and improve the resistance to corrosion and make the grinding materials to attach the grinding wheels evenly.
